India - reality v/s perception

Short note India

While we buy our peace and indifference and eventually form an image of the world around us, it is important to be reminded of reality every now and then:

  • 90% Indian adults earn less than 12,000/- a month. 90%.

  • Half of India’s adults earn less than 5000/- a month. Half.

  • If you’re in the “richest 10-20%” of India, you earn 11,907/- a month.

  • The poorest 10% earn 1656/- a month, the top 0.01 to 1% earn 2,04,191/- a month and the absolute top 0.01% earn 38,40,626/- monthly. Talk about income inequality.

And now think what are the top issues being discussed by India’s politicians, media and people!
