The difference between what you can do and what you do defines who you are!
A lot of people have begun saying "Yeah but it sells". But should you sell it? Arnab Goswami is able to get the maximum TRPs amongst English news channels with his brand of debates but should he do that? You can hit your child, your child is powerless and can't leave, but should you? You can use religion to brainwash people and make them dependent on you but should do? So far, it has been acceptable to give your wife triple talaq but should you render her that helpless? Fear and hatred spread a lot faster than love but should you spread them? These days, a lot of people think they can rape but should they rape?! If you can orchestrate riots to get power, should you do so? If you can instigate people to troll, should you?!
How do we decide what should be done?! Just by what 'succeeds'? Which is most often - what gets you more money/power?! Then what are we? A prostitute is desperate, needs money and openly accepts the occupation! But what are we?
How do we decide what should not be done? Merely by fear? Then imagine what would happen when the police, judiciary and governance fail! Or don't imagine - just open your eyes and see what's going on today - Gaurakshaks, bomb blasts, inhuman trolling, open lynching, brutal rapes - where does this stop?
There used to lay something in between - Values/morals, humanity/compassion, choice/rationality! Each day these seem to be dying in favour of brute force, raw power and victory! Well but what kind of victory and at what cost!
If those who can don't help those who can't, if we do not remain inclusive, if we progress at the cost of others, what sort of world are we building for ourselves and for our children!
