Nautanki Saala — Hopefully the only bad film Ayushmann will ever do

One of the most frustrating films in recent times, ‘Nautanki Saala’ makes you wonder what was the whole point of ever making it! A legal adaptation of a European movie, NS could’ve been one of those Chaplin-esque laugh riots that use theatre as a means to exaggerate human emotions. But alas, all it ends up doing is leave you wondering what could’ve been.

Even the lead actor Ayushmann’s sincere attempts at injecting some life into the morose happenings cannot distract your mind off the nauseating character etched out for the talented Kunaal Roy Kapur and the wish-she’d-been-to-acting-school performance by the female lead Pooja Salvi.

The music being its only saving grace, the film boasts of an unrelatable script that is entirely based on the ridiculous premise of the lead spending unlimited time and money and risking everything he has for a man he just met.
