To those who consistently make us feel ‘safe’

You know them!

The ones you can call anytime, ping anytime, meet anytime.

The ones who make you feel safe consistently.

You can say anything in front of them, you can do anything when with them, you are most yourself when with them.

They stand out in a world where appearances are the norm. They give us an island where we can just be.

Sometimes, their safety can get taken for granted. They can feel boring. Not-new, familiar, ‘safe’. It takes time to appreciate that safety is more precious than newness.

Contrast them to the ones you need to monitor yourself in front of. Heightened spidey-senses leading you to self-censor every move, every word, every cell of your being. They’ll preside over social situations, without an inkling of how they made everyone around them pretend for a whole hour…a day, an year, a lifetime!

That contrast is where your appreciation of the consistently safe ones rises! You may not rate them as much all the time but this is a tribute to them!
